Sticking her neck out

I see that Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, the Congresswoman from the 'Couve, was one of the 10 Democratic members of the House who voted to censure their colleague from Texas, Al Green, for shaking his cane and shouting at Mudface Caligula at the State of the (Soviet) Union speech the other night. The lefties in the party are screaming for her head, of course. "Primary her! Vote her out!"

No, kids, that's not how it works. MGP is all that stands between you and somebody like Trumpy Joe Kent for that seat. If you run an AOC type, they'll lose, and lose badly. The incumbent is doing what she has to do in order to keep her job. Give her a pass, for your own good.

    1. And also, she’s no Kurt Schrader, pretending to be a D so he can stay in office. This is a solid Democrat representing a moderate electorate.

  2. Exactly right. Even the attention whore Joe Manchin voted with the Democrats most of the time.

  3. She's walking a tightrope fo sho. Wish she was against the Save Act which could disenfranchise some married women. Pretty sure Trump won her district (though not Clark Co.). Tough gig.

  4. I “get it”, but I do not approve, and I told her so in an email. If those of us who do not approve of the destruction of our democracy by an addled drug addict, a demented old man and Putin do not object at every opportunity we will never recover from this horrible time. We may not recover anyway but we must try!

    1. We certainly won't recover without getting the House or Senate back.

  5. Seriously, we need more D candidates like MGP. A lack of moderate Dem candidates is what lost the presidential election and inflicted the current shit show on America.

    1. It's pretty simple, but the Dems are still learning. Pick the right candidate for your district/state.

  6. Once up on a time decorum was a sign of a class act. I’m glad some in congress are calling out the childish behavior tantrums.

  7. Congress is becoming more like the British parliiament--ever watch PM's Questions on BBC? I believe the British term is "barracking," and it doesn't seem to have ended democracy. They should have let the old goat from Houston exhaust himself, which given his age shouldn't have been long.

  8. NO PUNISHMENT for Marjorie Taylor Green for her insane outbursts during SOTU 2022, 2023 and 2024. B.S. I condemn every Democrat voting for censure. Those people have sided with Fascists who are dismantling our Constitution and the federal government. Decorum? Play nice? NO. No compromise EVER with Fascists. Paul Hanson, VN Veteran.

  10. What should have happened: every Democrat and every one of their guests should have stood up and walked out. Leave half the chamber empty - a literal Republican echo chamber.

Guess what the story would have been the next day?

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
