Spring is here. Break out the Kevlar.

You hate to say it, but it sure seems like the gang-banger thing is starting up big time in Northeast Portland again. Two men were shot and killed last night, one right out in front of the New Seasons on Williams and the other up where MLK crosses Columbia Boulevard. Over the weekend there was a shooting on 82nd just north of the open-air human trafficking market along Sandy Boulevard. And last week there was an all-out gun battle, at lunchtime on a weekday, at the usually quiet residential intersection of 12th and Going.

As usual, the cops offer no information about what's going on with all the violence. And so we're all left to wonder whether it's safe to leave the house, or even to sit near the windows. But don't forget to send in that arts tax check! The "doom loop" continues.

  1. As someone who lives just a few blocks from 82nd, it's nearing the season of "open the windows to let the good air in, but don't let the bullets hit your kitchen walls." Sorry, bad mash-up of a couple of Bruce Cockburn songs.

  2. It’s always amazing to see what the progressive bureaucrats think is the important way to spend the tax payers money.

  3. This is sooo Portland. I love it. Splashier than fentanyl, but still it’s a natural arena for Portland. You go grrrls!

  4. And apparently another shooting this afternoon in N. Portland near one of last night's fatalities. Also near where the car bois like to stage their takeovers.

  5. And the socialists on city council will kill off the bike patrol--which actually arrests jerks--and any other cops they can get fired.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
