The Christmas Week underdog post

Nothing stops the professional sports machinery in the United States, not even Christmas. In fact, the sports compete with each other for eyeballs on Christmas Day. It's easier now that there are no more new Barbra Streisand movies.

Anyway, this is where I'll post news regarding our charity pro football underdog game from Wednesday to Saturday. Posting may be a bit sporadic due to other festivities.

There are two games today, Wednesday. And in the first game, we have a live one:

3  PITTSBURGH vs. Kansas City (Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. PST) - Zen Cohac

The full week's slate of games is here; standings are here. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate.

UPDATE, 1:50 p.m.: Pittsburgh took a stompin'. Nobody's got the later Wednesday game (Houston). Next up is the Thurs-'dog, Chicago, at 5:15 p.m. PST tomorrow.

UPDATE, Thursday, 5:20 p.m.: We have a coupla takers for the Thurs-'dog:

3.5  CHICAGO vs. Seattle (Thursday, 5:15 p.m. PST) - pdxTrojan, Shoeshine Boy

UPDATE, Thursday, 11:15 p.m.: Chicago did not win. The final score was 6–3. This was in a football game, mind you. Not quite the 1983 Oregon Civil war game, but close. Next up: Three games on Saturday, the first of which is at 10:00 a.m. PST.

UPDATE, Saturday, 10:05 a.m.: No one chose the early Saturday pooch, New England at home against the Chargers.

UPDATE, Saturday, 1:38 p.m.: New England got a shellacking.  There's significant interest in the next game:

3.5  DENVER at Cincinnati (Saturday, 1:30 p.m. PST) - Air, Portland Pandemonium, Mojo, John

Good luck to them.

UPDATE, Saturday, 7:50 p.m.: Denver snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. In the nightcap:

6  ARIZONA at Los Angeles Rams (Saturday, 5:15 p.m. PST) - PDXileinOmaha, Bad Picker

UPDATE, Saturday, 8:15 p.m.: So close but yet so far for Arizona. Sunday picks in a new post tomorrow shotrtly after the 10:00 a.m. PST pick deadline.

  1. Sheesh—Broncos didn’t go for 2 to win at the end of regulation playing away in Cinci in a game where Burrows & Co. were rolling without much difficulty and Denver was lucky to catch up at the last moment on a desperation play. Good grief.

    1. The interception Nix threw in the 4th really cost them.

    2. Yep. If I recall correctly, that INT was caused by on rushing defender’s great play to hit his hand/arm. The intended WR had broken open deep up the middle. C'est le jeu….

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
