Underdog Week 9 standings
For the players in our pro football underdog game, first the good news: Nobody gained on you yesterday. Now the bad news: Only one underdog won (the Carolina Panthers), and only the leader in the standings, Andypdx, had it for 7 points. The rich got richer – isn't it always thus?
And so the standings of our players remain unchanged. SteveO and pdxTrojan have the Monday night 'dog, and so they get the asterisks as the sun rises on Election Eve. Just for kicks, I thought that just this week, I'd also display where our veteran players finished in the standings at the end of last year's game:
Last year final rank | Curr. rank | Player | Point total |
11 | 1 | Andypdx | 29.5 |
8 | 2 | Air | 21.5 |
– | 2 | Portland Pandemonium | 21.5 |
– | 4 | pitter patter | 21 |
14 | 5 | Annie B. | 18.5 |
– | 6 | Zen Cohac | 15.5 |
19 | 7 | pdxTrojan* | 15 |
3 | 8 | Shoeshine Boy | 14.5 |
11 | 9 | SteveO* | 14 |
9 | 10 | Buster Dog-las | 12.5 |
13 | 10 | Oredogger | 12.5 |
6 | 12 | Mojo | 12 |
1 | 13 | Gordon | 10.5 |
– | 14 | Roger Goodell | 10 |
16 | 15 | Kosar19 | 9 |
22 | 16 | John | 8.5 |
18 | 17 | Bad Picker | 5.5 |
5 | 18 | Meow | 5 |
– | 19 | Cliff | 4.5 |
17 | 20 | PDXileinOmaha | 3.5 |
– | 21 | Andy C. | 2.5 |
4 | 22 | Linda | 0 |
2 | 22 | Stephen F. | 0 |
As you can see, three of our current Top 10 are newbies, and so far last year's top 'dognosticators are having a little trouble getting traction.
But we've only just now put on the studded tires. Last year at this point, the leader had 42 points. This time around, the pack is significantly tighter, and there are still a dozen weeks to go (we play through the playoffs). Fourteen more 'dogs will be on display tomorrow. Like the man says, courage!
UPDATE, Tuesday: No go on Monday night. Ignore the asterisks.
