Election porn: Now with two-fers!

The Mrs. asked me last night, "Shouldn't we vote?" I replied, "Of course, but not yet. I don't want to miss out on all the election porn."

Because it's getting more entertaining by the day. As the entire Portland City Council is up for election in the daffy "rank choice" voting party, we're now getting two candidates on the same mailer – double penetration, as it were:

Sometimes you have to be proactive to get the full effect, though. This one starts out looking like a solo deal:

But when you flip it over, you discover that it's a tag-team:

With another week to go, I can't wait to see what shows up next. Portland is the trip you don't need mushrooms for.

  1. Boy! Howdy! Am I glad I live in unincorporated WashCo! Our ballot was 1.5 pages. The Voters Pamphlet was like 200pages! Since there are 4 of us here that share the same Voters Pamphlet, I had to go through it and mark the 30 or so pages that applied to us. The rest of it was a waste of perfectly good trees. Thanks, Portland.

I voted "no" on all the State measures... They were probably the most motley collection of loony ideas I've ever seen!

    1. Agreed. I'm no on all the ballot measures, state or local, this time around.

  3. Anyone who sends a mailer with the logos of the public employee unions--famous for "We elect our bosses"--should be sent to the circular file forthwith. Ditto the various "more for our race, less for yours" nonprofits. Ditto anyone endorsed by any of the town's dinosaur media; you gonna let Bottomly and Zusman do your thinking for you? And--for sure--any candidate who voted for the RCV mess or were on the charter commission.
    Have I left anyone out?

    1. But who's left that you can vote for?

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
