A medical reversal

Beep! Beep! Beep!

The directors of Oregon Health and Sciences University changed their minds on Friday and didn't name a successor to recently gonged university president Danny Jacobs after all. Governor Kohoutek intervened and dissuaded the board from handing the job to Nate Selden, a faculty member and doctor who's been doing good work at the med school for decades.

And so now they will blow six figures on a headhunter consultant and conduct a national search. Selden can put his name in, but given his race and gender, he faces an uphill climb. Maybe he should call the governor's wife and see if she'll give him an interview.

Most likely the process will result in another outside hire, like... well, Danny Jacobs. Some people never learn.

And I suppose this means Jacobs will hang around drawing his obscene pay while the search is being conducted. What a scene.

  1. I knew they wouldn’t reach a logical selection without a political consideration. They have to satisfy the woke worshipers. It’s too bad there’s nobody on their upper staff that knows how to interview management candidates.

  2. I think Nate dodged a bullet-- and a pay cut, for that matter!

  3. The last place to go and come back alive is a hospital- perhaps a university too.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
