Have a great weekend

  1. Jack, one of my favorite things about your blog are the posts about music and the musicians you admire. I read the entry about the Four Tops and wanted to comment there but felt tongue-tied and even grief-stricken. When people look at me funny about this I have to say "you had to be there." Not everybody who was alive at the time connected with music the way us uber-evolved humans did. When Dave Loggins sang "we'll move up into the mountains so far that we can't be found" I think I even packed a bag and was ready to go, damn his girlfriend in Tennessee. This guy gets it, I thought to myself at the time. These days, just reading the title of his song on your blog brings tears to my eyes because of the memories invoked. Keep reminding us Jack, of the artists who are inevitably slipping away while still leaving behind memories for us mortals that will stay with us until WE slip away. I wonder if they know their impact on us.

    1. This is a remarkable song. "And lie awake at night 'til they come back around." Sheesh!

Of course we miss the great musicians who leave us. But my advice is, don't miss the new kids. Yesterday I posted a clip of a woman named Clairo from Massachusetts who started out as a TikTok sensation a few years ago as a teenager. She's been growing ever since, and her new record is fantastic. And there's Weyes Blood, Khrungbain, Lettuce, Laufey, Jon Batiste, Cyrille Aimee, so many others, all kinds of great music being made by our kids and grandkids. Yes, we were lucky 60 years ago, but if you look hard enough, you will see that we are still lucky.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
