If you don't have anything nice to say...

We got another attack mailer against Sister Sushi today. That's three in two days.

It's all being paid for by a dark money outfit out of L.A. And her opponent, Maxine Dexter, says she doesn't want or need this kind of "help."

The negative message against the Su is being laid on so thick – and there are apparently around $900,000 worth of media ads to go with the mailers, for a grand total of more than a million clams – that it could actually backfire. Could it be a false flag operation? I doubt it. That's a lot of money for a subtle trick.

Who is bankrolling this? We may never know. Some speculate that it's a wealthy pro-Israel type, which would make sense, but there's no apparent way to venture more than a guess.

All of that said, the message is spot on. Dexter is a far superior candidate to a failed county commission hack.

Also in the mail was the pitch from the zoo. What a waste. That'd be a "no," kids.

  1. The zoo one looks like it could be either for or sarcastically against, 'only' $380 million to a terribly managed and cruel money pit.

  2. Well to be fair, name recognition is how most people vote. That is why Sam Adams will get a whole lot more votes than you expect.

    1. I expect he will get many. With a lot of dread.

    2. Can we organize an effort to take down his signs all over the NE? My understanding is that you can't put any on public property, but I saw him personally do it on several occasions.

  3. I saw a TV ad for the Zoo bond which claimed it wouldn't raise taxes. How can they say that when, by definition, it's a loan to be paid back by increased property tax?

They get a big fat NO just for being dishonest. And I hope some attorney somewhere looks into it.

    1. It replaces an expiring bond, so the net impact is zero

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
