'Tis the season
The primaries are almost here – they end four and a half weeks from now. I just stumbled across a sample local ballot for Multnomah County, here. The county voter's pamphlet is already here. (Sorry, no Klingon translation this year.) And things are heating up.
The combatants for the Multnomah County district attorney seat are heaving State Bar complaints at each other now. Meeeeee-OW! Which is pretty comical. I'd be shocked if either complaint went anywhere. Even nonpolitical ones with real merit tend to get soft-pedaled; campaign headline-grabbers should get even lighter consideration.
Meanwhile, Speedy Gonzalez and Chainsaw Rubio continue to sling mud at each other. Today it's over who will make the rules implementing a city street camping ban, if the courts and the state legislature ever let the city have a street camping ban. It's sort of like asking, "If you had a brother, would he like cheese?" But our two truculent tango dancers are sounding off passionately about it.
Speaking of judges and homelessness, I thought we were going to get a chance to vote against that awful Judge Rima Ghandour, who has blocked the city's street camping restrictions, and as far as I can tell, can't be bothered writing an opinion explaining why. She's on the Multnomah County Circuit Court via a Kate Brown appointment to fill a vacancy. Apparently Judge Ghandour doesn't have to win an election until November. That's crazy. But hey, this is Oregon.
Oh, well. I don't think anyone is running against her, anyway. We get the government we deserve.
Unforced error by Gonzo. He needs to let Carmen talk herself out of the job.
ReplyDeleteI don't know who's running his campaign, but there have been too many mistakes.
DeleteLots of lawfare going on these days. Nobody gives a rats' ass about upholding the law, just using it to get your (or your masters) way. Good times.
ReplyDeleteLots of clowns masquerading as district attorneys
DeleteI know, right? Can you believe how debased the Supreme Court has become? Bald-faced obsequiousness toward the billionaires.
