Keen eyes, skilled hands, and a funnybone
I think that of all artists, cartoonists are my favorites. And so on the heels of the news that Al Jaffee has died, it's tough to read that Edward Koren has also shuffled off this mortal coil. His work in The New Yorker was always entertaining, and usually thought-provoking, despite how soft it was around the edges.
Laughter is racist and homophobic and too white... But I agree, I like a good laugh and cartoonists can capture the essence of an issue or event in one panel.
