The chickens come home to roost
Another one bites the dust: James Audubon did so many disgraceful things 200 years ago that his name is being taken off birdwatcher groups around the country. And of course, Portland wants in on some of that action.
But if it's not going to be called the Portland Audubon Society, what should it be called? We want to be perfectly correct about this, so that we don't have to change the signage and stationery again in a few years. Maybe we should rename the group after the state or local politician whose brain is closest in size to a bird's. But that would be a stiff competition.
Here's one you can take either way: "Portland is for the birds."
ReplyDeleteIf Wyden ever retires ( highly unlikely ) get ready for a tsunami of buildings, roads and mountains to memorialize his 112 year career…..maybe the Bar association will send him a certificate that says “passed”?
ReplyDeleteTalk about “ a local politician with a bird brain “……
ReplyDeleteI always thought it was a just a tad ironic that a guy who painted birds he shot out of the sky wasn't exactly a nature lover but how else was he going to get them to stand still.
ReplyDeleteWe had better delete all the USA “founding fathers” and anyone who lived before 1865?
ReplyDeleteCrap does that mean we have to abandon our Constitution, Bill of Rights?
ReplyDeleteNo, we already did that.
DeletePDX bird lovers society.
ReplyDeleteThey should rename themselves the Higher Taxes for Parks Fan Club.
ReplyDelete“Put a bird on it…”
