Cold and lonely in the deep, dark night
Last spring I wrote a few words to mark the passing of Jim Steinman, the guy who wrote spectacular songs for a spectaculat singer, Meat Loaf. Yesterday, Meat Loaf left us, too. He was 74 years old.
I said what I needed to say about their collaboration, which was nothing short of stunning, when Steinman died. Condolences now to the big guy and his loved ones.
I saw him perform in 1989 at Rockefellers in Houston. Walking up to the venue we passed his tour bus. He was sitting on the lower step eating dinner out of a styrofoam to go container before the show.
ReplyDeleteHe performed the entire Bat Out of Hell album and was terrific! Still on of my most memorable concerts.
