Turn to the left
Tongues are wagging today about the rich folks who are throwing money at Nick Kristof in his campaign to become governor of Oregon. Of course, the haters are focusing on the out-of-staters. Kristof took $50,000 from Melinda Gates, and smaller contributions from the likes of Lawrence Summers ($5,000), Cathy Sulzberger ($5,000), Richard Danzig ($1,000), and Tara Westover ($5,000).
But there are some familiar Oregon names on the list too: Mike Powell ($5,000), Sandy Rowe ($500), Peter Bragdon ($5,000), and Jim Winkler ($7,500) all show up.
In all the hubbub, though, the pundits and critics have overlooked the most noteworthy name on the Kristof donor list. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you...
OMG, can you imagine? Queen of fashion, the woman behind the wrap dress, a Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur, once known as Her Serene Highness Princess Diane of Fürstenberg, and one of the most powerful people on the planet. Diane von Fürstenberg!
For a big $5,000.
Kristof may be talking Yamhill, but he's getting bankrolled out of some much swankier places. Maybe Diane will come out for some barbecues in Dayton when the weather gets nicer.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
