Another roadside detraction
As Dan Ryan and the Portland City Council dither away endlessly about where to put managed homeless camps, here's a cautionary tale out of Hillsboro about how the surrounding neighborhoods are going to react. It won't be what goes on inside the camps that will have the locals livid. It will be what goes on on the surrounding blocks.
Meanwhile, a Freudian slip in the reporting:
Shelters in Hillsboro and Forest Grove were created using funds made available by the Oregon State Legislature for Project Turkey, which saw 17 motels across the state become shelters for people displaced by wildfires, vulnerable to COVID-19 and/or experiencing homelessness.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
