On a wing and a prayer
I see that the face cards who are in charge of the bureaucrat and politician pension system in Oregon are up to their old tricks. Ted Sickinger of the O calls them out, as he periodically does, here.
If a private company behaved with its retirement plans the way Oregon government does, someone would probably go to jail. But it's a government deal, and and those folks get to just make stuff up.
Heck, the Portland police and fire pension system is 0 percent funded. As in zilch.
If you wonder where all your tax dollars are going – it sure isn't to public safety – learning a little about the PERS and the Portland police and fire pension system might be a good education. We're puttinng aside more for, and paying more to, retired government workers than you may ever have imagined.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
