Both teams played hard

Are you like me, are you having trouble staying interested in the American men's pro basketball season? It's still dragging on, with the NBA Finals now standing at 2 games to 1 in favor of Phoenix over Milwaukee.

I admire the talents on both squads, and I'm happy for both host cities, which have been waiting for this for a long, long time. Last night the Bucks racked up their first win in a finals game since 1974. But it's the middle of July. It's hot. The sun is shining. There are things to do. Basketball was for the days when it got dark at 4:30.

They will play somewhere between two and four more games. I will peek in here and there, I guess, but for those outside the finalists' hard-core fan bases, it's hard to imagine sitting through that much more. Have mercy, Adam Silver! Next year, please get it over with by July 1.

  1. By contrast, the Blazers won their 1977 title in early June.

  2. And I can remember back in the 1960's when the NBA finals wrapped up in April. Now it's not about the sport, it's about squeezing every last dollar they can out of it.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
