Breaking out the flip-flops
I see that Multnomah County's whiz kid D.A., Mike Schmidt (lifetime batting average .027), has had a change of heart and is now bringing charges against people whom he previously let go after their arrests in connection with various riots around town. Some of the "reinstated" charges go back to crimes committed last November and January.
Why bring these charges now, when they were dropped when the crimes happened? The official line is that "law enforcement completed investigative follow-up." I think what was investigated was Schmidt's approval ratings. If a viable opponent surfaces, he'll be out of office the next time he's up for re-election in 2024.
Schmidt is like a kid learning how to drive a stick shift. Too bad he's learning on our car.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
