The Portland cops have a deal for you

Leave it to the Portland police union to take a good idea and twist it into something bad. The union wants body cameras on the cops – but on the condition that only the union would get to see the footage, not the public.

Oh, and you have to give any cop who agrees to wear one an extra 2 percent salary.

I am not making this up.

This is where any competent mayor stands up from the bargaining table and tells the union where to go.

But folks, we are in Portland, Oregon. Here, no insult from the cops is ever enough.

It's so crazy that the members of the City Council can't even speak in public about what the union is proposing. It all has to be decided behind closed doors before there's any public discussion. What a town.
