On the plague plateau
To me, the only reliable statistics about Covid infections have been hospitalization numbers. As our former President, Orange Caligula, made so clear in his special way, raw case numbers depend on testing frequency, which is not a constant. But the number of people showing up at hospitals with severe Covid doesn't depend on their getting a test first.
And so today was the first day that I'm convinced that the latest wave of 'rona in Oregon is finally on the wane. The hospitalization figure, which had flattened, has finally started heading downward. Over the weekend, we dipped below 300 suspected or confirmed Covid patients in hospitals statewide, for the first time in a month.
So yay, us, I guess. For now, at least.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
