It ain't happenin'

I voted for Mike Schmidt for Multnomah County district attorney. I would never do it again, but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

What I wanted was for somebody in power to behave differently when the Portland police kill someone. I wanted there to be a real chance that once, just once, a Portland cop would be held accountable for wasting some poor bastard's life, as they do every so often.

A week and a half ago, a Portland cop did just that.

And you know what? So far, this one feels no different than any of the many, many others that have gone before. Right now the public is being kept in the dark for the "sanctity" of the "investigation."

I don't think Schmidt is evil. He's just another dud, like most Portland politicians. I do believe he's headed for an early political grave. One that would be well-deserved.
