Whom the feds hauled in
Yesterday's odd announcement by Portland's law-and-order U.S. attorney gives us a chance to see whom the federal troops have arrested at the protests here, and what the arrestees are charged with. I couldn't resist creating a spreadsheet based on the press release. I've attempted to post it here.
Here are some facts that you might find interesting:
- The average age of the defendants is 28.13 years old.
- The crimes they are charged with are:
Charge | Number |
Arson | 3 |
Assaulting a federal officer | 38 |
Attempted arson | 1 |
Creating a disturbance | 1 |
Creating a hazard on federal property | 2 |
Damaging government property | 1 |
Destruction of federal property | 1 |
Disorderly conduct | 1 |
Failing to obey a lawful order | 17 |
Violating national defense airspace | 1 |
- In addition, 11 citations were issued for other, presumably lesser, offenses. Seventy-four people have been accused of some federal offense. Almost everyone is from the Portland metro area. One defendant is from Eugene, and another from Texas.
- The biggest nights for federal busts were from July 21 to 29. Since then, only four people are shown as having been arrested by federal officers.

The platform used for this blog is awfully wonky when it comes to comments. It may work for you, it may not. It's a Google thing, and beyond my control. Apologies if you can't get through. You can email me a comment at jackbogsblog@comcast.net, and if it's appropriate, I can post it here for you.
